The result is a lively manual large enough to be comprehensive but small enough to carry in a backpack. From architecture, landscape, and seascape, in broad perspective and detail, it's uniformly excellent. "Pen" is taken to mean traditional dip, Rotring, technical, and fiber-tipped blades. There aren't many good books available in this field, so Caldwell's work deserves a place in most libraries, even those owing Frank J. Lohan's Pen & Ink Techniques (1978).
